Retrospect Opera

Great British Operas On Record

Projects
Currently we have two projects on the go:

Macfarren’s The Soldier’s Legacy is an opera da camera for four voices, piano and harmonium. More details from the Quick Links tab.

We are also recording Shamus O'Brien by Charles Villiers Stanford, in 2021.

Ethel Smyth's dance-dream opera Fête Galante. was released last November and has had considerable critical acclaim - we'll be assembling and uploading extracts from the reviews soon. It’s coupled with Liza Lehmann's melodrama for reciter and piano, a setting of Oscar Wilde’s The Happy Prince.

The Jubilee was released in June.

We issued the re-release of
Smyth’s The Wreckers in 2018, and Charles Dibdin’s Entertainment Christmas Gambols was released in 2017.

Edward Loder’s Raymond and Agnes was released in August 2018 and has had really splendid reviews.

Solomon and Burnand's
Pickwick (plus Grossmith’s Cups and Saucers) was released in February 2017, and The Boatswain’s Mate was released in August 2016. Both are proving very successful, with excellent reviews. We’re fundraising for The Soldier's Legacy.
